It's Pancake Day!

Chef Juan made special order pancakes for breakfast one morning. 
It was such a hit, that it is now a regular on the menu. 
Residents were able to order buttermilk or
 whole wheat pancakes with a choice of toppings from chocolate chips, nuts or fruit.

Here are some pancakes ready to go out to the residents!

Read Along with The Village School


 The children are back to school and coming to visit weekly. 
There are 6 different kindergarten classes that will visit the
residents here at Tarrytowne Estates weekly.
 
Muriel Patrick was enjoying the story from this young lady.

Hazel Smith enjoyed the company of this young lady. 
 She was impressed with how well they already could read!

Dunham Bible Museum



Residents recently toured the Dunham Bible Museum at
Houston Baptist University.  We had a wonderful guide, John,
who described the different bibles and some of the locations from around the world.
The exhibits has over 1600 different types of bibles in over 300 different languages.

Our Favorite Piano Lady

 
 
Dot Marshall stopped by the other day,
a "JUST BECAUSE" moment, to play some music for the residents. 
 
Here Ruth Nestor was singing and clapping to one of her favorite songs.
 
We are so happy that Dot is feeling better and has returned to
playing the piano for our Tuesday Sing-Alongs.
 
 
 

Creating an Autumn Picture Frame

 
We've kicked off the holiday season with a craft. 
Residents gathered to decorate a frame for fall, either to keep or give to their families. 
Laura provided all of the supplies and the residents were the creators.  
Upon completion, Laura provided photos in the frames
 from past parties or scenes from around Tarrytowne Estates.
 

Jerry Oakley was spacing out her decoration around the frame.

Gerry LLoyd was anxious to put in a photo of the turtle in the pond.

Both Jerry and Scotty Oakley decided to
put in photos of themselves and their dog, Gidget!

Grief/Loss and Coping in Older Adults

 
 
The social worker and Chaplin from Gulf Coast Hospice
presented some wonderful information to our residents
about grief and how to deal with loss and changes
that are associated with older adults.
 



 
They both shared some wonderful information. 
Several residents shared their stories and are seeking
future counseling services from the social worker and Chaplin.

It's Yellow Shirt Day!

 
We are having a great turn out with Color Shirt days. 
If residents wear that particular color they have a chance to win some "Funny Money",
which can be used later to purchase some gifts, etc.

The Sunshine Store Helpers

Here are just a few of the ladies that will be helping out at our new "Sunshine Store".
The Grand Opening is Wednesday, September 25th!
 
The store will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to Noon.

Margaret is hoping that it is her!

Alice is already thinking about Christmas.

Ilene bought a new plant stand for her patio. 
She needs more plants for attracting butterflies.

 Jerry bought some new items for her apartment and
 wanted to know when would we be returning, she enjoyed Garden Ridge.

Meet and Greet Mixer with Curtis Nickelson

Curtis Nickelson played many favorite songs.
He told joke and entertained the crowd.

for the August Meet and Greet Mixer.

Many of our new residents came to be introduced.

The residents enjoy Curtis, requesting songs and stories.
